Spiritual Bouquet Day 16: Gather your friends this weekend before your TNTT time and pray 10 Hail Marys for the souls in purgatory

The souls in purgatory have died in God’s grace and friendship, and are now being purified “so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven” (CCC 1030).

Our prayers offered to God on their behalf helps them be cleansed more quickly, and once in Heaven, they in turn will pray for us with a grateful heart.

Jesus told St. Faustina: “Bring to Me the souls who are detained in purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice” (Dairy of St. Faustina 1226)

A simple prayer that we can say at the end of our 10 Hail Marys for the souls in purgatory is called the Fatima Prayer. It was given to the 3 children in Fatima when she appeared to them:

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.”
